From Struggle to Strength: How I Found My Leadership Calling—and How You Can Too

Writer: Brad AultBrad Ault

If you’re a Christian man striving to lead in your family, career, and community but feeling the weight of responsibility pressing down on you, I get it. I’ve been there.

There was a time when I felt the tension between who I was and who God called me to be. I knew God created me to be a leader, but doubt crept in. Was I capable? Was I ready? Could I make an impact?

Maybe you’re asking those same questions.

Maybe you feel the pressure to be a strong leader, but inside, you battle uncertainty, fear, or even burnout. Perhaps you’re tired of trying to lead alone, feeling like you have to have it all together, like you can’t show weakness, and that the world is expecting more from you than you have to give.

But here’s what I’ve learned on my journey: Leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about stepping forward in faith, living purposefully, and making an impact—right where you are.

That’s why I created Faith, Purpose, and Impact. It’s more than just a slogan—it's a leadership framework designed to help men like you lead with confidence, clarity, and conviction in every area of life.

My Turning Point

For years, I studied leadership. I coached, trained, and worked with teams. I understood strategy, mindset, and personal growth. But something was missing.

I was operating in my strength, but not always in God’s strength. I chased success without realizing that authentic leadership isn’t about climbing higher but serving deeper. I had to shift my focus from trying to be “the guy with all the answers” to becoming a man of faith, purpose, and impact.

And when I made that shift, everything changed.

What I Discovered About Leadership (That Most Men Get Wrong)

  1. Faith Fuels Leadership. Leadership isn’t just about skills and strategies—it’s about trusting God with the path ahead. When we lead without faith, we lead with fear—fear of failure, rejection, or not being enough. But when we lead with faith, we lead with boldness because we know our strength comes from Him.

  2. Purpose Gives Direction. Many men struggle in leadership because they don’t have an apparent reason. They’re grinding through work, marriage, parenting, or ministry without a clear vision of what they’re building. But God doesn’t call us to wander—He calls us to live intentionally.

  3. Impact Requires Action. Leadership isn’t just about what you believe but what you do. We can study the Bible, read books, and listen to motivational talks, but nothing changes until we take action. Your leadership will only grow when you obey, even when you don’t feel ready.

How This Applies to You

I know what it’s like to feel stuck between the desire to lead and the fear of failing. But you don’t have to stay stuck.

Here’s what I want you to know:

You don’t have to be perfect to be a great leader. You have to be willing to grow.

You’re not alone. God has placed people in your life to support and sharpen you.

You are called for more. God didn’t create you to sit on the sidelines. God created you to lead, and the world needs the kind of leadership only you can bring.

Next Steps: How to Lead with Faith, Purpose, and Impact

If you’re ready to step into your God-given leadership calling, here’s what you can do today:

  1. Strengthen Your Faith. Spend time in prayer and Scripture daily. Ask God to reveal His leadership calling in your life.

  2. Clarify Your Purpose. Write down your vision for leadership. Ask yourself: What kind of leader do I want to be? What kind of impact do I want to make?

  3. Take Action. Leadership doesn’t start with a title—it begins with a choice. Today, choose to lead in your family, workplace, or community with boldness and integrity.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to connect. I’m on a mission to help Christian men lead stronger, wiser, and with more significant impact.
